Rex Fowler of famed folk-rock duo Aztec Two-Step pays homage to Elvis Presley’s legacy with his band Rex & The Rockabilly Kings.
Elvis’ musical contribution, cultural impact, and artistic achievement made him an unsurpassed 20thcentury icon. Drawing from his Country music roots as well as the African/American traditions of Gospel and Rhythm & Blues nurtured from the fertile ground of the Mississippi Delta, Elvis intuitively created a revolutionary groundbreaking sound that previously had never even been imagined before, inspiring artists such as John Lennon and Keith Richards, and changing popular music forever.
Rex & The Rockabilly Kings perform joyous renditions of Elvis's Sun sessions and early RCA recordings from the period of 1954 into the early 60’s. Rex leads the group on Elvis-style acoustic guitar, lead vocals and riveting introductions, and is backed by a virtuoso 3-piece rockabilly band: electric guitar, standup bass, blues harp, and drums, as well as stirring Jordanaires-like backing harmonies that were a trademark of Elvis's sound early in his career.
"Elvis defined Rock & Role: The sneer, the hair, the twisting knees, the thrusting hips, the Pink Cadillac." – Dick Clark, American Bandstand
