Shannon Doah’s 30 plus years in burlesque began in the 60’s. She first danced in San Francisco’s infamous North Beach and Hollywood strip and go go clubs. She was a featured dancer at “The Losers” nightclub in the first US production of the “Crazy Horse Paris” production and toured as an exotic striptease dancer in the US and Internationally until the mid 90’s. She returned to the stage to perform in Las Vegas at the Burlesque Hall of Fame and is again an in-demand headliner. Robin Leach, host of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” describes Shannon Doah as the “epitome of elegance”."
Jean was in the Katherine Dunham’s experimental company in New York City, when she was discovered by the famous Minsky Burlesque show in 1950. Known for her famous Ostrich fans she toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada. While on tour she met the love of her life, Bill Holliday (Master of Ceremony, Trumpet Player and Ventriloquist). The couple traveled the country together performing in shows from New York to San Francisco.
Jean was twice pictured in Jet Magazine. Other magazine spreads included Hue Magazine and Our World Magazine. Jean Idelle’s greatest legacy to the Burlesque World was that she integrated many white night clubs throughout the United States and Canada. Jean was a true professional who mastered the art of burlesque, she was the headliner for every show she performed in. Jean is forever grateful that the Burlesque Community of today has recognized her accomplishments and honored her as a legend. When asked if she ever had difficulty performing at an all white club, Jean stated “No the crowd was more interested in seeing me perform.
