DOZ's story is one of an ethereal scope. The DOZ world is a philo-visual landscape where matters of the heart swim in colorful pools of love and fire.
Bronx born and raised in Cleveland, OH the band is fronted by twins, Aku and Akwetey O.T. Having trained classically since the age of 5, Aku and his twin only most recently began playing together. The twins forged their musical knowledge to new territory studying music theory and performance with legendary Jazz saxophonist/flutist Yusef Lateef. Later travels to Africa and South America gave the young men new lenses with which to hone their craft.
Bronx born and raised in Cleveland, OH the band is fronted by twins, Aku and Akwetey O.T. Having trained classically since the age of 5, Aku and his twin only most recently began playing together. The twins forged their musical knowledge to new territory studying music theory and performance with legendary saxophonist/flutist Yusef Lateef. Later travels to Ghana and South America (respectively) gave the young men new lenses with which to hone their craft.
The two began unearthing their own songs engaging Lateef's "auto-physio-psychic" understanding of music, carving new sounds out of rhythms and melodies at once familiar and 'far out'. It wasn’t until 2007’s “War Lover” that the twins worked together for the first time on record. It seems that the twins are indeed in good company. Chicago native Bizza (Drums) joined the band in 07’. Having been State-Champion drummer at the age of 7 Bizza is an accomplished musician in his own right. Bizza's lock-jawed rhythms have formed the core of DOZ's future promise. Fleshing out the band is the newest addition to Dragons. The graceful stylings of bassist Fon Lin Nyeu (Knife Skills/Chica Vas) have cemented Dragons as a unified force.
In the past 2 years DOZ's performances have bolstered a truly majestic sound that now has now gone global, with press and fans alike coming out of the woodwork. Following the debut release of Coronation Thieves, the Dragons soared high scoring gigs with Modest Mouse, mystic upstarts TV on the Radio,Saul Williams, and Television.
DOZ spent the entirety of 2009 staving off the cold ,taking in the sun and writing their next gems. Let’s hope the seeds have ripened. If ever there were a live show to see right now, these incendiary Dragons fit the bill.

denitia and sene.
Smooth like smoke from the tip of a Cuban cigar, and as sensuous as morning love, electro-soul duo denitia & sene not only exude sexy through their music, they invent it. The Brooklyn-based musicians came together a year ago with a shared vision to bring truth and ingenuity to stylistic music, and they’ve held their ambitions high ever since. Simple. Rare. Sumptuous. Bold. They’ve been influenced by a range of sonic proclivities. Thus, their work is distinguished not by genre, but attention to free verse, and the magic that transpires between darkness and light. It’s film noir for audiophiles – chic, hip and alluring – and together, they have broken down personal limits to forge a bond surpassing all expectations.
In true Brooklyn custom, the two artists met while attending a party one night at a spot they refer to as the “The Clubhouse,” an old Victorian home serving as a residence, community space, and recording studio for a collective of local artists. Sene, a rapper, was looking for someone to sing hooks on his new album, and denitia, a singer-songwriter, welcomed the challenge. He gave her the scratch vocals; she nailed it and then some; and suddenly, they were part of the New York fairytale so many artists call a dream. It’s Brooklyn at its finest – it’s serendipity. It’s denitia & sene.
After their initial collaboration went better than expected, denitia & sene decided to take it one step further and form a twosome, allowing sene, a Brooklyn native, to tap into his musical skills beyond hip hop, and denitia to explore a more sultry, theatrical side of her character. Both were inspired by a variety of artists and backgrounds, listing Sade, the Fugees, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Beatles, and Janet Jackson as a few of their shared favorites. Such diversity is reflected in the dynamism of their own sound, from smooth bass lines and reverberating vocals to synth-laden blues and abbreviated narratives. It’s kind of like nothing else out there, and that is the intention.
denitia and sene’s first EP, blah blah blah was released in August and presented by OkayPlayer.com, a three-track assortment blending definitive soul with electronic bebop. Their track “Casanova” won the attention of many music tastemasters, with Fader magazine calling it “an effortless, snuggly gem primed for late Saturday mornings tangled in rumpled covers.” Because their partnership has been effortless and magical from the get, they intend to continue down the same track, aiming to create authentic and intuitive music that is accessible to a wide variety of people. No fronts and no concessions – it follows only the rules they set for themselves, compromising nothing that might contradict their signature sweet panache.
Started as a studio project in early 2012 by Danish born singer & multi-instrumentalist Emil Bovbjerg and Grammy award-winning engineer & producer Jeremy Loucas, Bowmont is a 5 piece eclectic electro-rock collective from Brooklyn, NY. While working and expanding on a collection of demos by Bovbjerg, the producer duo joined forces with Mon Khmer guitarist Elias Meister and others on the Brooklyn music scene.
As a writer Bovbjerg comes experienced in widely differing disciplines like orchestral & wind ensemble writing, but here relies fundamentally on his own voice as the main vehicle and delves into a much more personal rock, electro & pop influenced approach to songwriting. Audibly freed from restrictions and composed in broad strokes and vivid colors, the songs are carefully crafted simplicity, the production painstakingly rich in detail and lyrics like condensed manuscripts laced with film-like imagery. The band’s singles ‘Ruphmiup’ and ‘Look Closely’ have sparked the attention of notable blogs and radio stations in Europe and the U.S.
Their debut EP ‘Euphorian Age’ was released on February 17, 2013. This Band That Band called it “a remarkably complete and assured piece of work from these relative newcomers. Like any solid release, it feels like a journey, in fact it feels far more like a proper album than an introductory EP.”
